Web Design Runway 2009 Part II
05.14.09
As we were reading on the first delivery of Web Design Runway, designing for Internet has reached entirely new standards where the only limit is creativity. Let’s analyze some other elements that have become very popular on 2009´s professional web design.
New fonts
Graphic designers have become much more aware of just how creative they can get in terms of typography. Classic fonts such as Arial and Georgia are still being included on the web sites’ contents; however there is definitely a trend towards including fonts like SIRF.
This is by no means a random election; designers are really aiming for visually appealing pieces to the extent of beautiful typography that enhances the overall look of a web site.
Light boxes
The newest generation of pop ups, light boxes work focusing people’s attention on the most important areas of the web site. These boxes are a call-to-action design (singing up for a newsletter or logging in) ad they pop up o top of the main content. Light boxes are usually semi-transparent and have a close “button.”
Media Blocks
Broadband Internet access allows users to browse more than they did years ago, allowing designers to present content on a more attractive way. Media blocks have become a great alternative to use videos and screenshots to make the web site more appealing. These elements allow a quicker more effective way to deliver information.
Step-by-step tutorials, detailed shopping explanations, etc allow users to have a real interactive experience.
Magazine Like
Web sites and blogs are going for the printed press look. The use of illustrations, text alignments and typography are making us think of a really cool newspaper.
