Marketing campaigns on the Internet aim to provide the best service in the shortest period of time. This has changed the way marketers interact with customers. The nature of these online businesses makes it necessary to set as many successful transactions as possible in order to be profitable. People expect information, benefits, products and services immediately. Tolerance grows really thin when someone has to wait in line, let alone when someone has to wait more than a few seconds for a page to download.
Traditional Marketing vs. the Internet 101: Customer service means two completely different things within these two marketing media. While it is true that both make a strong emphasis on added values, traditional marketing takes a bigger chunk of time to secure the sale and solve the prospect’s questions. It was a strenuous process of ego massaging, customer-pampering and uncertain results. Sure, marketing is far from being an exact science, but we have all heard sad stories about salesmen who were pathologically unable to close a deal. Online Marketing has changed a lot throughout the years. Remember when modems would beep and pictures would take forever to download? Remember when having a site for your business was a luxury and not an urge? Remember when grunge ruled the world and flannel was fashionable? Probably you don’t. But, if you do, it’s more than likely that you’ve noticed how potential entrepreneurs nowadays demand, obtain and understand information about the web and how it can improve their online marketing and sales.
Just like when you hear an old couple say how different things were back then: markets are more open for new suggestions nowadays, more willing to interact, to get close. But you have to know what, when and how to say it.
You probably remember times on which there wasn’t a Starbucks on every corner. There were small, local businesses everywhere. On those primitive times, people would actually answer the phone and, if you were patient enough, they would inform you about the kind of enterprise they were running. The owners would take the time to hear, analyze and discard offers of all sorts. It was an excruciating process that required direct interaction. Read the rest of this entry »

Being number one on a market segment is easy. Really, it only takes hard work and lots of time spent in the process. Think it’s too hard? Well it is probably easier than sending someone to the moon. For online marketing success you need good ideas and great taste to begin with, be persistent and patient. The cool part is that you could start working from home, be your own boss and eventually operate from the Bahamas if you want to. See the “easy” part is making more sense now…
To really succeed in a market niche you need to be persistent, structure a marketing and advertising campaign, aim all your efforts to create name recognition and sell something good. Your company´s image is key in the process. There is an old saying that “what you see is what you get” and it´s true. For corporate reasons your company needs to look good, be attractive to the public and reflect what it is intended to do: selling products, informing, government or nonprofit orgs. Even NASA has a logotype and a corporate identity. It’s all meant to look appealing for a specific market segment. All logos need to send a message and reflect a good, positive image towards fulfilling customer’s needs or solving problems. Read the rest of this entry »
